The purchase of your new home is more than likely one of the biggest investments you will ever make. So doesn't it make sense to get it inspected so that you know whether or not your investment is going to be a "Money Pit"?

Currently there are no licensing requirements for Home Inspectors in the State of Ohio or Michigan. That means that anyone can have business cards printed and tomorrow they are a Home Inspector. This type of inspector is commonly referred to as the "Flash light, Clipboard guy". How then do you protect yourself in this type of market to insure that your inspector is qualified? There are organizations that Home Inspectors can join to validate their credentials. These organizations require Inspectors to pass Home Inspector exams, Standards and Ethics exams, as well as the attendance of continuing education courses. Some of these organizations require that you have performed a minimum of 250 inspections before full membership can even be aquired.
